I've burned unleaded 87 in my WD and 45 for as long as it's been around. 40 yrs? Have had no problems. Worst case scenario is pull head and put hardened seats in. I say don't worry about it.

I've been told that a WD45 already had hardened valve seats and to run unleaded gas.
unleaded goes in all our old tractors with no lead additives used.

X2
If I were planning to run my old tractors enough to keep the fuel rotated frequently then I would use the cheaper unleaded with ethanol in it but I would be careful to make certain to get all of the ethanol out of the entire system before parking it for the winter.

Non-ethanol for me! It's fine as long as it keeps moving through the system. If it sits for awhile it's going to draw moister and that causes problems.

everything around here (with no license plate) runs strictly on non ethanol these days.  Really helped reduce issues.  I have not had any luck with additives.

Now that I am retired I don't drive my pickup enough to keep the ethanol fuel rotated through it so even though it is licensed it only gets non-ethanol. My Wife's car has become our primary transportation and gets driven at least once a week so I use the cheaper ethanol fuel in it.

i sure dont understand the problwm with ethanol fuel... I fill the truck every 6 weeks as we dont use it much.. Wifes car is every couple weeks... 4-5 small tractors that only cut grass in the summer and leave a gallon or so in each for 4 months at a time, and never had a problem..

Last Spring I was at a friend's house; he was trying to get his Ford Bronco running after it sat all winter. The carburetor was full of what I call "Donkey Snot" from the ethanol. He took the carb to a mechanic to get it fixed.  A couple of weeks later we chanced to meet up at the local gas station where I was pumping premium non-ethanol gas into my 1985 F-150 and he made a snide comment about how he couldn't afford to buy that expensive gas... I have logged just about 1 million miles on 7 Ford pickups since 1982. Zero problems. Same goes for about 10 other cars and minivans. Zero trouble. I have 12 years of tractor rides and some plowing demonstrations on my WD-45 with nothing but ethanol fuel. When it gets put away for the winter, I shut off the sediment bowl and let it run dry. The tractor sits for 6 months with a 1/2 tank or more of ethanol and never once in 12 years have I had any issues. Engine probably gets 50 to 60 hrs her year on it. My One-Seventy high deck tractor uses ethanol for the last 5 years. No problems. Same fuel used in my D-10 and no problems. The only thing I won't use ethanol in is my lawn mower.
