Never seen these shields before....im thinking this cultivator is for the wd or 45? Any info?

I don't think they are shields,,,,,,,, more like an attachment to run close to the row to take out little weeds kinda like a rotary hoe does. But they might bust up the clods and dirt to keep from covering the small plants..............

Those are rolling cultivator shields. They had them for WC,WD and CA time period cultivators. HTH Tracy

You could adjust a rotary cultivator to throw more or less dirt around the crop. Guessing they helped protect the crop but let some dirt hill up around it.

they didn't "choke-up" with weeds and vines as bad .
