Where do I find the serial number for a Model E
I have a number of 40523 on the left side of the block
 
this didn't seem to jive with the serial number chart on the site

The serial no. is in front of the gear shift lever on top of the axel housing.

Some of those serial numbers were stamped pretty faint.  Depending how much rust is on there, it might be pretty hard to see.  Take a good wire brush to it and a strong light off to one side.

Frist year short fender was on dash - firewall . When calling it a E is it a 20-35 or 25-40 .Where is water pump side of engine ,or mounted on front of engine.
