Long winded rant, be warrened.

Saturday was the consignment sale at Willshire Ohio put on by Schrader Auctions. There were a few items I was interested in, but I chose to work in my shop and use online bidding. At first everything was ran through Equipment Facts, which I think works well. There were several items in ring 2 that I was interested in and when it finally went live I had the online platform, I think it was next lot, pulled up on my phone. I could not get the page to load fully and couldn't tell what lot they were on. I saw a button that said "unmute" I clicked it. I still couldn't hear anything but it said " high bid placed" then a message about me winning the lot! I immediately hit the chat assistance button and asked for help. I got no where. I then found a phone number to call. I called it and the man I talked told me not to use the website on a phone as they have a lot of problems with it. He said I need to use the app. He also told me he could not remove my bid with out auctioneer authorization. He told me to get on the app and use the chat box to talk to someone that was with the auctioneer. He seemed to think that if the situation was explained they would just re-run the item. He made it sound like incidents like these are somewhat common and they would fix it. So I download the app and try to get help from the chat box. I got no response. I called Schrader's phone number and left a message( I still have yet to get a call back.) Finally after about a half hour I get a response in the chat. They tell me to call the numbers that I have all ready called and I received no further response. A friend of mine that is in the auction business called around and got the phone number of the auctioneer. That has proven to be a dead end lead as well. So now I apparently own a grader blade that I had no intention of bidding on because I used an auction platform that the tech guy admitted had problems!

My point of all this is to warn everyone that if you intend to bid with Schrader make sure you have the dang app! And if you need to contact them for help or questions your SOL.
Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

Auctioneers as a general rule, are crooks when you are standing right in front of them and will take bids from a squirrel on the powerline or the plane flying over.  Do you think they won't try to pull a scam when they are doing something on line?  I could bet the if you read through the entire fine print that goes with the phone APP you find out they they have the power to take your money and that all sales are final. There's nothing I need bad enough to have to buy from a crook.

I will no longer access the online sales around here, Shills and scams to jack prices, nearly everyone has ceased dealing with them and prices are staggeringly LOWERED.  Maybe they will get the message.

probably too late but put a hold on your credit card !!! Call the CC company and explain you pressed unmute and they say you won the bid !!
If CCC doesn't put on hold, contact local FBI about wire fraud or whatever it's called

what was comical to me was the rusty...65 Mustang that sold at auction here for $70K... by the time it's out he door... $92K and STILL needs a safety to get tags !

If you do the online auctions though you can place a HIGHEST BID to prevent 'oopsy'.

Son uses several online auctions around here and has had no problems - but then he has got to know the sites and individuals who run them as well as the individuals who sort out the bought items .
I have picked up a few things he bought and no problems as same individuals who check bid receipts know him now and are real helpful .
Will say though there a couple sites he refuses to bid on as he said they are crooked in their bidding and last minute bids keep adding time instead of closing out
Then he is doing strictly ON LINE and not a live auction where you don't get to see what is bid or who your bidding against . Makes it a little more honest and shills can get had easily
