Options for Gemmer steering gear box on a C

I have a customers C sitting here that steers very hard. It appears that the Gemmer steering gear box is where the problem is at. I tried to do a search on this site and I get this message.

I have talked to 2 different people this morning that have adapted 1970's Chevy LUV steering gear boxes to their C. Both of these guys are local to this area and the 2nd one to do it heard about it from the first one. It sounds like it was a pretty easy change over and it made the tractor steer very easy. It seems like from reading on here that the box from a B to a C is different.....that the steering arms moves in opposite directions, so if this is correct it will not work on a B.

Probably easier to find and old Izusu steering box, they made the Luv for GM. should be the same.

I've always thought a person could fab up a 60's model Ford or others that used a P.S. slave cylinder and graft it to the tie rod somewhere in the middle, and anchor it to the frame. Then mount the pump, run the hoses from the pump to the slave cylinder and back to reservoir to pump. G.M. had one that ran off the back of the genny, but there might not be enough room to put it between the carb. and intake, so you would have to mount the pump separate from the rest. The cylinder on one end has a little internal valve that moves back and forth that directs the P.S. fluid so that when you turn the steering wheel you get steering assistance either left or right. The problem would be, is finding parts anymore to work with. I think it would get awfully pricey find the parts in a local junk yard yard since so much of the stuff has been sent to China.

I used Mylar clad king pin bushings on my 45 (got them at NAPA) and you can't believe how much easier it steered with High temp. slick grease.(You will have to find an experienced parts man that understands what you're up to. And take in your parts so old parts so he'll know what you're up to). Also you can buy the bushings separate from the rest of the kit.

OK, I may not need a gear box after all. I pumped the worm gear box and the front pedestal gear box full of corn head grease and it steers much better. I need to replace the steering wheel and the upper shaft bushing that the steering wheel pilots into and I think it will be good enough.
