The later one nineties had the 3-4, 5-6 while the early ones had the 3-5, 4-6 and I believe it didn't matter whether it was an xt or not. My 65 190 and dad's 65 XT both have the 3-5, 4-6 while my 67 XT and brother's 71 XT have the 3-4, 5-6. Your decal may be wrong or the gears were changed out at one time. You should be able to tell by going through the gears to see if your 4 is actaully slower than your 5.

3 5 and 4 6 was the d19 pattern for some jobs it works good to skip a gear for other jobs it good they are all inline 3 4 and 5 6.
