Joe, with that much weight in the x-y table and vice, I question precision if you were to transfer it to your other drill press with movable table. I don't believe the table on your drill press was made for that much weight. I suspect it may bind a lot, and actually sag from the weight. It may only the in the thousandths of an inch, but that might be a lot, depending on your use, and it would not be consistent, it would get worse the farther from the post you get. Just a thought
I am still confident of this;
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 27

 Well, I've just about decided on leaving the floor model drill press in garage alone. I have it set up to use strictally as a drill press and it has a nice HF 2 axis vise. The column  has the hand crank to raise & lower the work table and table can be tilted and swung out the way if needed. On the mill machine, it is bolted to a 20" X 20" table of 1/2" CS plate and am thinking to cut the legs off the table and bolt the whole affair on my big work table.  I don't think I will ever need this extra height of the column, so,,,what would the average span needed for the mill to travel? I will also set up a small hand crank boat winch behind the mill with good access to operator. ,,,,??ClapClap
