I am thinking it is for an ED40 since the page shows it is for (Serial ED 4935 & up) and his location shows as Cornwall.
I am wondering if that is a filter assembly that was built and in use in the UK back in those years. You might try a shop that deals in industrial hydraulics to see if they recognize it, or a similar one. Are there any markings on the housing that might give a clue to a manufacturer, if it was supplied to Allis by a vendor? Using the application finder on the WIX site it shows 51420 as the hydraulic filter for an ED40 with the Ricardo L4 2.3L diesel engine. However, it does not appear to have the threaded post shown on the filter in the picture.

It’s just before the hydraulic pump at the front of the tractor, ED40. I will post a picture of the whole system from the catalog when I’m home
