Will a 190 3pt. hitch work on a D17 IV? The 17 has a snap hitch and they want to change it to a 3pt.

Steve, I'm not sure about the 190 working on a D17 Series IV,but it will work on a D19. I do believe there is a difference, but I could check that for you tomorrow,if you want? I have a factory three point setup on a D19 and a snap coupler off a D17 Series IV that I could measure the rear lift housing and see if they would bolt up. I'll be in touch,Steve. Rick

Steve - won't bolt up as the rear housings are completely different. There may be some parts on the lift arms/lift links on a 190 that are the same but that's about it. 170/175/180/185 3 point will bolt right up. Mike

Thanks Rick and Mike for the information. Thats what I told him and just wanted to be sure I was correct. I know my brother tried to put a 180 3pt on a D19 and the top part worked but the bottom part would not bolt up. Thanks again. Steve

I've never done this, but always thought there was a possible way to make the wider (D19-190) hitch work on a narrow (D17-170-180) rearend housing. I believe you could manufacture two spacer plates one inch thick to mount to the rearend and then have a second set of holes to line up with the hitch itself. It would require some threaded holes in this plate and some countersunk holes for others. Only downside I can see is the hitch would be located one inch further rearwards from where it normally is, which wouldn't bother anything. Something to maybe consider ??
