That's going to look so good you won't want to drive it and scatch the paint

Guys,
First some bling for the old CA.

Back to Bondo on Bondo off:

I will not make this tractor look so good that we wont pull it.

These Allis hoods, if you have ever tried to improve one, are a challenge. At least to me.

These next pictures are pieces that are ready for the next coats of primer:

More tweaking of the sides of the hood.

not too exciting stuff. I did get a temp gage installed. Also ordered a pulling ring/ hitch for pulling.

Regards,
 Chris and Cheryl

i have a plywood "hood holder" similar to yours... Your right, there just is not a good way to HOLD that hood while you work on it !
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I like your plywood but. I made one for a Cub I was working on. Went one step further and screwed it to a block that was screwed to a wood sawhorse. Pretty stable setup
Nice work BTW

Guys,
John and I sanded the sheet metal and I filled in some areas with Bondo. Then used some of the 2K primer to cover these items again. That is a high fill type primer. Had to change the gun nozzle tip to a size 2 was 1.4. Then the paint went on pretty even and wet. Will see how it looks tomorrow. I would like to spray some color in the next few days.

Sorry, pretty boring Allis stuff!
Regards,
 Chris and Cheryl

Guys,
So today we sanded the primer with 220 to level the surface a little more, and remove a few runs. I was able to prime all the parts again. The hood needs a little more attention, so I may be able to get it in primer tomorrow.
Here is the left fender just out of the crude paint booth. I think the parts are going to be ready for Persian Orange number 1 soon. Getting tired of sanding. But I have continued to try to improve my skills in body work over the years.

I plan to scuff the parts with scotchbrite, tack them off and prep for finished paint.
Regards,
 Chris and Cheryl

tadams and Allis folks,
Well I finished priming the hood prepped all sheet metal parts and got them positioned in the paint booth. IF I was going to do this again I need 4, 4 foot LED lights to be able to see. Anyway I mixed up the orange and covered all the parts. Had some runs on inside of the fenders. Also on the tool box. So I will have some sanding and touch up. I put on two coats. Pretty happy with most of it. Poor vision, poor lighting makes it all look acceptable!
Will get some pictures soon. Probably tomorrow. As it needs several hours to cure. the top coat is single stage omni PPG. I think the color is darn close to original!
I released the hood from the buck to sand the attachment points and get full paint coverage. This morning as I used scotch Brite to scuff it.

I hung the hood vertical in the paint booth and when I walked out I did not see any runs. There always seems to be touch up needed or some spot I missed.
Dang I am going to need a wiring harness! Wonder what Steve (B&B) is up too?
Pesky carb and distributor are on the list to get back together also.
Ok This is way overkill for a old pulling tractor in the 2500 or 3000 lb 3.5 mph class.
Regards,
 Chris and Cheryl
