Seeing as I have spare broken 1/16th scale AC 7030 MB open station, I was contemplating making it into a High Crop 7000 series in 1/16th. My question is: Were all the High crop 7000 series all Black Belly's? Or were there any that were Maroon Belly's? |

all black bellies, we were the field project manager, just a title, for the HC unit , kept logs on the prototypes in S. LA and beakdowns etc. Felix Patterson was the sales manager for the mid and south region and watched the project closely. They wanted to take some cost out of the unit by downsizing the final drive drop housing. Felix was my boss and Ernie Kritzberg was the chassis engineer trying to cut costs. Felix instructed me to "make sure that don't happen, if it doesn't look bigger than deeres and IH we can't sell it". We took the inner tires off - put on duals as wide as possible, hooked a 15' ripper to it,,,, and kind of failed the rh final drive unit, major... Ernie came down - we had the unit apart and had put the wheel back on the inside to hide the reason for failure - he scratched his head and kept saying - we tortured these at the proving ground and never broke a thing...
I guess we will just have to go with it as is, we can't cut, but we can't make it any stronger and sell it... the dealer Bill Satterwhite , my partner in crime, and I never said a word. Later I met with Felix and said "hey boss, you know what we did---" and he threw up his hand and said I know nothing and you will tell me nothing.... :-) just a 'war story'. no charge.

What models were produce for the 7000 series?
I have the 7020 and 7060 high crops. Have had 3 7045 through the years. Did they make any other 7000 series into high crops? |

Thanks for the great information! I am a learning a lot about AC tractors I never knew about. In regard's to the high crop 7000 series, were most sold with the 4 post ROPS and Canopy or "Half cab" or were more of them sold with an enclosed cab?
I have heard of the 7020, 7045, and 7060 High Crop, although I have never seen pictures of a 7080 High Crop. |

no 7080, since all HC were power-shift.

I'd love to own a 7020 high crop to go along with my regular 7020. Hey Jason I'm not far from you, I'm one of the McBride clan lol. I'm curious to see the high crop when you get it built!!

Not sure when I will start on a High Crop 1/16th 7000 series Allis, but we will see. Want to make or have a 1/16th 7000 Maroon Belly customized with the 4 Post ROPS and canopy at some point as well. A 190XT High Crop in 1/16th is something else I have been thinking about as well. Jason |

Id be interested to know about the 8000 series Hi- crops as well! Weren't they limited to just the 8030 and 8050 as Hi-Crops, and excluded the 8010 and 8070? Maybe wrong on that though. Really need to sit down and read Norm Swinford's books fully sometime.

Just an FYI, a 7000 tractor would not be correct with the 4 post rops, those used a 2 post. The 4 post was only on 7010 and up.

Ok Thanks! I saw on EBAY before Christmas a 7000 MB custom with 4 POST ROPS and Canopy, glad I passed on buying it if was not correct. Still will have to figure out something to make a Maroon Belly 7000 in 1/16th. Anyone have a picture of the 2 POST ROPS set up vs. the 4 Post ROPS set on a AC 7000 series? Jason |

Armand, Those are beautiful models! Well done, obviously a lot of time and effort went into those High crops. Love them both! Wish Spec Cast/ERTL and the Orange Spectacular show would team up and offer a High Crop Allis of some sort in 1/16th, other then another D19 high crop that's been done. |
