I have found a period correct steering wheel for my 37 WC
does anyone have experience in restoring the bakelite material on the wheel I have seen clips on using bondo, Thanks Paul |

i coated one around 3 years ago with flex-seal. it's still holding up good' it works good for handles on tools also.

I hear flex seal also works good on All-Crop draper drive rollers.

If your steering wheel has gaps or even if there are pieces missing,
PC7 2-part epoxy works very well to fill in. It has about the same consistency & density as bakelite. What I've found is that a good day between layers is required for it to cure out. If too soon, the stuff will gum up whatever tool you're using to shape or file it. I changed a '40 Chrysler steering wheel from stock 18" diameter down to 16" dia using a slightly dull, half-round wood rasp to shape the contours. Took quite a while, but turned out good. |
