I'd like to pickup a smaller tractor about 20 to 25 hp range plus or minus.

I don't want to spend 20 grand on a new Kubota so that is out of the question.

The AC-5020 is a Hinomoto, it is my understanding that parts can be difficult to come by.

I've considered a CaseIH 245 or 235.  But these are really just a Mitsubishi with red paint. I'm unsure of parts availability.

There's a good, from my research, Yanmar dealer in my area that has US refurbed units for what appears to be good prices.  Should I just get a Yanmar?

Thanks

I have heard those JD's are good.  Maybe I'd be better of with a plain ole Yanmar and not pay the extra for the Deere logo on the front?

In my opinion it's not easy to select a good machine in that HP range.  I'm leery of hinomoto....iseki...etc.

I have a Mahindra 2015 that I like very much. It's pretty much a Cub Cadet built under license. Lift ratings are typically higher than comparable CUT's

I have a Yanmar YM2000  (24 hp) gray market that I bought in '98 and have been very happy with it.  Have had virtually no problems.  It has the 2 cylinder diesel engine which is very good on fuel usage.  I think mine was manufactured somewhere in the mid 70's.
It has a compression release so a good battery is necessary for cold weather starting as the engine must be spun some to warm before firing.  I would definitely buy another if I was needing one.  Tim

I talked to a couple of CaseIH dealers and was told that parts can be had for the little 200 series tractors.

Hard to beat an old L series Kubota, Like a L185, or L225.  None of the new digital crap, to go bad.

I have a 2004 John Deere 4310 I bought new (32 HP).  It is a hydro and 4WD, the engine is Yanmar but the rest of the tractor is not, some Deere compacts are all Yanmar.  I have pulled a 6 foot Bush Hog, a 7 foot blade and a 7 foot box blade with it.  It has a 6 foot mid mount mower.  I have been very happy with mine.

My brother has one of them 43 series tractors, good enough, but if one component in that liquid crystal dash goes, there's a $2000+ bill!

My dash got replaced under warranty at 30 hours, the tach was going backwards.  These tractors, mine included, tend to fog the dash up when they get warmed up.  Don't know why, it's a little annoying but not a real bad problem.

You don't say want all you want to do with it --- so that makes a difference. We have a AC5030 for our small tractor and it is great.  We use it for mowing horse trails in woods with a 5' bush hog, mowing yard with a 7' finish mower, spraying with a 3pt sprayer, and many odd jobs.  It's my wife's tractor and she loves it --  thrifty on diesel fuel, too.

I have an AC 5020, and love it.  Normally it just cuts the grass with a 6' woods 3. mower.  I have the brush hog on it and have ben clearing out some woods recently.  Haven't had many problems.  Lost the water pump once and got a new one from a  supplier on here.

Keep an eye out for a low hours one and you should be good to go!

So make a list of everything you think you'd ever want to do with it...  without criteria, it's kinda hard to discuss the possibilities...

I have had a few Yanmars over the years - used to buy and sell them (grey market). There is decent parts availability if you pay attention to what model you get. I think they are solid units. i kept a YM2610D - about 34 HP (the first part of the model number is the engine power, in kilowatts. You multiply by 1.34 to get HP, but you aren't talking draw-bar HP)

I would look for one w/ power steering - it makes a world of difference. Another feature I would definitely look for is a power-shift model.

You should be able to get a good one for $4000-$12000 depending on size, condition, 4x4, loader, etc.

Watch for the ones reconditioned in Vietnam - i would steer clear...

The main use will be with a finish mower and box blade to maintain a road.

Here's the big question.  Do I buy a used Kubota or Kioti or a USA refurbished Yanmar with a warranty???
