OT-Old Coke Bottle Machine

Matt this one is not exact but is available. Is this the type of restoration done by Folkers' Restoration. I have been looking for parts for a 1947 coolerator fridge and a 60 ish chest type Coca Cola box.    sale-dcaby-2700598876@craigslist.org

i remember...we used to walk up to them machines with a big cup, open the bottle with a cap remover and let it run in our cups! Doug...i'll look in my collection of pop machines, i know...i have a pepsi one....can't remember if i have a coke one or not! and Danny...you talkin about one of them slider ones?

Old? The machine pictured, to me, is a new one! 

My first job had one just like that. On the money meter where the nickel fell in, there was a microswitch. The maitenence guy rigged a little extension to rest against the back of the woodgrain outer panel. Push on the panel so it flexed and the meter would register a nickel. Push on the panel with your knee seven times and pull your bottle out.  Owner caught on to us when machine was empty and there was about $2 in the change can. He made us pay up as a group or the machine was gone.

there is one of those in my local barbershop, here in horse cave, and it is the only survivor i know of, he keeps it filled with the new small bottles and i still enjoy a cold drink at the barbershop evertime i stop in, cokes are $.75 cent and haircuts are $5.00,

The front bumper of my '69 Chevelle had a spot that would pop a cap with one swift hit. Lots of coke bottles found their end at that bumper, later on even more beers. You guys are making me wish for the old days when everyhting seemed fun, sweet, clean and simpler. Now I want a Coke machine, you guys are not a good influence! Well maybe you are.

Here are a couple of mine. The first one is a spin top and there is only one selection because that's all there was, Coca-Cola.

Shameless, my box is large and has lids that hinge open from either side of the box. It needs a lot of work but is similar to one we had in a country store operated by my family from the late 50s to early 80s. I loaded the drinks as a kid and they set in cold water. When we would pass the store coming from picking cotton or other farm tasks we would stop and get drinks that were so cold , ice formed in the neck when the tops were popped. The first drink of slushy cola was so good I can still taste them over 50 yrs later. My grandparents swapped the chest box for an upright like the one that started this post. The drinks were never as cold in the upright machine as they were in the chest box. My bos needs gaskets, handles, the 2 bottle cap catchers,and tlc.

I have a coke machine that looks just like that I would sell for $400.00. It worked when we used it several years ago in our shop.  I can deliver to Yankton SD if that helps as i am from SD north of Yankton. I can send photos if you would like.  Thanks Roger

There used to be an identical machine in D & K Implement in Pomeroy, IA.  It used to be an Allis dealer called Garber-Birkey.  It was there until the early 1990's but don't know beyond that.

It's a little easier to see it when it's re-sized.

We have one like you pictured Matt. Wish ours looked that good. It needs restored and bottom is pretty rusted on one side. It's been sitting out in shed for years. Don't know why? We should have kept it inside. I can remember filling it every week at dads shop when I was young :)  Think I'll have to add that to rstore list.
