Guys,

tool box test fit up prior to primer. Some body work to do on this and all the tin.

I painted another 200 orange AC wind chimes last night. Paint work is ok. Will have a bunch of touch up as I chose to paint most of the fasteners.
Will I ever get this old pulling tractor together?? Stay tuned!
Regards,
 Chris and Cheryl

Guys,
We were without internet for a couple days. It allowed me to work on the CA a little.
Also I was able to get to our local tractor pull for a couple pulls with the old WZ. It's pulling in antique classes with speed limit at 4 mph. Get in good fit and it pulls good. Anyway that encouraged me to shoot some paint on many CA parts hanging in the paint booth.
First the paint booth seemed to work very well so far. Containing the majority of the over spray. The block was wiped down and primed and painted along with a couple dozen other parts. I have primed the remaining hanging AC wind chime parts tonight. The sheet metal will take some time but I may be able to get the engine and the front end on the tractor in a week or so.
My soft goal is for this to be pulling at local fair in mid September???
will try to get some pictures soon.
Regards,
 Chris

Have to agree, even my rust bucket had to have at least one working brake before it got any use.

Steve and Steve and Folks,
Thanks! The one center wheel is really pitted bad. Will have to do for the old puller.
Haven't done a thing to the CA lately. But glad its up on wheels! Been lazy. Driving the Comet whenever we can. Car cruise in's several times a week. Pulled the Comet right rear axle to replace the axle seal which was leaking because I messed up the seal install last year.
Back on the Allis I really need to prep parts primer and paint. The sheet metal needs a lot of smoothing with filler. Lots of sanding and filling and repeat.
Hope things are good in Orange land!
Tractor pull coming up next Saturday about 2 miles from the house. Not sure I will be able to pull. We may go watch, Humm a concept?

A lot of our cruise nights got rained out already. Great start. Hope it isn't like two summers back where all it did was rain, and the Mosquitoes carried you away!  Agh!  I hate that. They also just installed gas lines in the streets around us and the streets are a mess. Jo Jo doesn't even want to take the T-bird out for a cruise. That's fine with me. I'll be the one cleaning the tar off of it!

Steve, guys,
Summer is finally here! Mowing yard and dodging rain. Not good weather for farmers to get hay made.
We have several car events per week to attend. I have to look at the cooling system in the Comet. It was running hot last Monday on the way home. Would like to take the 32 but its very hard for Cheryl to get in and out of it. Heck its hard for me to get in and out of it!
Not much happening on the old Allis CA project.
Hope things are good in Orange Land!

It's not like most folks are turn braking every 30 seconds like they might have back when these tractors had cultivators on them, so those brakes should last a very long time. I agree not having brakes is no fun. It is almost always a pain to redo them but I feel it's worth the hassle. You will have a complete tractor again soon!

Allis folks,
I installed the break shoes around the new drums. Found it was easier to pull them through with a wire. Looks like that will work nice. One of my pet peeves is poor or non functioning brakes. That was from driving several tractors as a kid which did not have brakes.

Allis folks,
You folks working on the CA's got the old blood moving a little. Keep your expectations low please! I had some of these parts painted and aging like a fine wine. Thought through the assembly and rigging issues. Moved the 32 truck out from under the jib crane and began to look at some of the drive line chassis parts.

Some blocking and shoring and holding and supporting, along with giggling and wiggling, we installed the final drive assemblies to the rear end.

This is a big thing for me as I have been procrastinating very well on this project.
Neighbor stopped by just in time to help get the last bit of movement and fit up.

I may install the rear rims and tires, just to get that end on the ground?

Thanks guys, Maybe we could have a tractor together in a year or so??
Hope things are good in Orange land
Regards,
 Chris and Cheryl

Mike, Folks,
Thanks. Just completed the rear spring up date on the 65 Comet. Its stiffer than a cob and at the same height as with air shocks pumped to 100 PSi. Improved stability in the rear for sure. Will ride like a lumber wagon for a while.
Thanks for checking in on me!

Dave, Folks,
Thanks for the support on the CA project! These little tractors are quite powerful and will do a full days hard work and use a minimal amount of fuel too.
We have several tractor events coming up soon at our local tractor club. Plow day this Saturday, then a tractor pull the following Saturday. Tractor pulling is not for everyone. It is a competitive sport and the Allis tractors usually end up near the middle of the pack.
We need a picture of your CA!
Hope things are good in Orange land!

Hey, Chris - greetings from central Massachusetts! I just read all 15 pages of this thread. What a marvelous project - will be looking for the startup video, but congrats to you on your progress  - should be a great machine when you are done. BTW, I have a CA as well, though it's never been to a tractor pull since I acquired it. Smile These tractors are great examples of some terrific AC engineering. Have fun.

Allis guys,
I need a real kick in the butt to get moving just a little on the CA project. I will make this list of some of the items maybe it will help me look at the small tasks to get a small Allis tractor together to be a little better than when I bought it. These are not in any order Just what comes to mind.
- get the carb out of the soak and take it apart for cleaning and rebuild
- Start doing body work, filler shaping on the sheet metal components
- get parts ready for primer and paint.
- Put some orange paint on parts.
- start to assemble some Allis components.
- Bring bigger parts together
- Get the tractor up on its wheels
- Bring small components to add to the tractor frame.
- Find missing fasteners or special Allis items
- Fill the fluids in all areas.
- Stand back and see if we have made any progress on this old tractor.

Rgerads,
 Chris and Cheryl

Steve, Guys,
Thanks.
Yes the car in the background is our 65 Comet. We have owned it a year and have done some work to improve drive-ability. With 85K original miles it is a good driver and we do take it to several cruise-ins. We had it out today and drove home through a light rain. That doesn't happen often.  Its in the warm shop all dried off and ready for a car show this Sunday.

Allis folks,
Starting to get a few days that are warm. Yes we mowed the lawn once with the Ford Jubilee. All the Allis tractors are conserving energy for possible plow days and tractor pulls. Our tractor club (Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society Sagertown PA) have events starting in early May with a plow day. Just south of us in Mercer County they are plowing today. Next will be a spring tractor pull at our show grounds in mid May. A Antique pull with speed limits. Our CA is not going to be ready for that!
Hope things are good in Orange land!
Cheryl and I will be spending time cruising with our 65 Merc on nice days also.
