What lathe tool did you use for turning the v belt groove? I had to be pretty small to get all the way to the bottom. BTW, beautiful work!!

I machined the front side recess then turned it around held it there with the inside jaws got it running true with a dial indicator , machined the whole lot including the bore and keyway without taking it out so it all ran true,( the original pully was balanced but i figure this was because it was cast and some surfaces were not machined) for the grooves I used a 3mm wide parting tool down to the right depth, then a home made tool which i had to hold at the back of the toolpost as the pulley was to big for my lathe , for the surface the seal runs on i fitted a stainless speedy sleeve and polished with emery cloth.
The keyway was done using a home made tool held in the toolpost then winding the saddle back and forth with the lathe switched off and in low gear as not to move . steve

Nice tool setup to machine the grooves! Necessity is the mother of invention, isn't it! Do you have a picture of the tool you used to make the keyway? Thanks and nice work.
