I am reading Norm Swinford's AC book about the Fwd tractors.  The 5000, 6000, & 8000 series fwd notes and have a few questions.  

Q1. If I understand correctly, AC did not manufacture the 8000 fwd axles & drivelines?  If not AC, then what brand did build these items - was it Fiat?
Q2. When AC realized that the 7060 rear axle final drives used in the 8050 were acceptable for the 8070 fwd & 2wd tractors, then what differences are there between the 8050 & 8070 tractors?

Company called SIGE made the 8000 front axle.  It was made in Italy, but I don't know if it was connected to Fiat.

John Deere doesn't even make their front drive axles, as told by a former dealer.  Fiat supplied front drive axles for the 5000 and 6000 series.

It was a privately held company.  They were very good people to work with.

The 8070 and 8050 are close to the same machine. 8070 has a different injector pump and a balanced crankshaft, also had 3 hyd. valves in back where as most 8050's came with two ...

Mark, do you know what became of SIGE?  What other companies did they supply axles for?  What other products did they manufacture?  It is becoming difficult and/or expensive to get some of the SIGE axle parts from AGCO.

Beefier PD in 8070.Bigger radiator too I think.Books in the shop...I'm in the house. Bigger axles maybe? Mine are 4"
     Dual hyd std.Triple...option.Mine has only 2

My 8050 also has four inch along with the 4 pinion rearend. Powershift in mine, forgot about that pd in 8070's

I think Sige is or was a part of Deutz.

When we owned an 8030 FWD I changed the crosses to greaseable type.Had to grind a little out of the joint so that the grease fitting did not hit when rotated.

I thought the 7080 and 8070 shared final drives and rear ends, the final drives and axles were bigger on my 7080 but I guess I never paid attention to the 8070

They used the same finals til ser#2662 on 2wd,then the 8070 used the same finals(width/ratio) as 8050. FWA used same as 8050 throughout.

Whats the name of the book? I thought Norm Swinford only had 2 or 3 AC books out
8070FWA,7080 BlackBelly, 7045,2 200s,D19,D17,G, WD,45,UC,7 AC mowers and lots more!
