I was in a Sams Club the other day and saw a tractor book that I picked up at had to look at. It was a book of all kinds of tractors. There was one tractor that caught my attention. I believe it was a allis b or c with a loader on the back and appeared to go in reverse. Anyone have any ideas on this one? Or maybe it is an over seas tractor. I don't know. Should have taken a picture of it.

You should have bought it so we could see the pic. I guess I've never seen a B or C reverse loader but it could happen maybe. It could have been a TLB, there was a small # of them built by Tractomotive Company using the B's, would love to have one of those.

No but that is a really cool tractor. Are they hard to find? The one I saw was longer in the back.

I don't see why you couldn't build one. I've seen a reversed C with a Fofklift on it. I'm sure it was shop built somewhere. it was inuse at a Allis dealer many years ago. seemed to be pretty handy moving stuff around in the shop.

There was the TLW too, I searched for Allis TLW and found this picture. I think it is Farrell from Utah that owns it.

They used a WF to build the TLW models.

K, L, M and S are all crawlers and the WS and WK are wide gauge versions of them. There was also an L tractor from 1921-1927, less than 2000 made.

The way I understand it it's pretty simple to make a tractor run "backwards". All you have to do is flip the ring gear and reinstall it. Of course you'd also have to reverse the operator controls.
I've got several old parts WDs and have considered doing this in the past. Having the drive wheels in the front would be a big improvement over a loader tractor. The only down side is you are pretty much limited to loader work only after the conversion. |

That WF may have been what I saw. Seems it was smaller "body" though. I will take a picture of it if I can make it back up there soon.

m16ty is right. You can take any of the old tractors from the 40s-50-60 era and just put the ring gear on the other side of the pinion inside the differential, and you have changed the direction. Turn the seat around and move the steering wheel..
|
||
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Does anyone have a TLB that they would want to get rid of. They look really fun to own. Don't have to run or be complete. Just like to have another project I don't need to put in the shop that has no room for anything else.... Man this hobby is fun!!!

That radiator sure looks familiar! LOL I think it rode around in the trunk of my car for a day and then ends up straped to a trailer for a ride to PA by way of KC.

I've seen people ask as much for the single front wheel as he wants for the whole tractor.

...Lonnie, I was just gonna say that! Somebody needs to bring that baby home. Definitely has a rare and cool factor to it, especially with the single front(er, rear?LOL!) wheel on it.
Fred, I somehow knew you would be posting a picture soon when I saw the question asked about a rare older AC. I must be psychic.LOL! Very nice unit, BTW.
|
||
I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!
