For one row cultivating? I know a B is a true one row tractor, but a CA is only 10 inches wider and has PAW wheels, snap coupler, 4 speed, hand clutch, WD hydraulics. Do you think a CA would work good for one row work?

obviously, you must be talking about a wide front CA.
A tricycle CA makes a REally nice 2 row tractor. I personally never have seen a wide front CA. Are there many out there?

All the CA's I've seen in this area are wide front.

do the wide front axles adjust in and out, to compensate for the rear spin outs?

CA is a sweet little tractor, much nicer than the B. 4 speed tranny and hand-clutch sure makes it handy, although I don't know how well it would work for a 1 row. Depends on the row width I guess. You would have to convert a 2 row into a 1 row, or make your own somehow.

I have alot of room to work with so making the rows alittle wider is not a problem. And I would most likely modify a 2 row cultivator to work.

Frist thing you would have to remove all snap coupler hitch mountings and draw bar to mount a one row [ B ] cultavtor on a [ C A ] and fabricate new mountings where the cultavtor frame mounts to the foot rest bar as the [C A ] is different there than a [ B ] and revamp the hdl. lift. yes the [ C A ] is a little nicer than a [ B ] BUT a [ B ] is a ONE ROW CULTAVTING TRACTOR !

It will be a tractor that is used to cultivate (and plow and disk) the garden. You are right the "B" is a cultivating tractor and most implements are made for one row farming. It is a simple tractor but is what I need!

whyt reinvent the wheel. the B is made for 1 row and has implements designed for 1 row work. you will need to custom make every thing for a CA to do one row .. iF YOU WANT A ca YOU MIGHT AS WELL CULTIVATE TWO ROWS. We always set our garden up to cultivate two rows when I was a kid. I t worked very well we also cross checket potatoe hills and cross cultivated them. A NF works best for row crop work.

No reason you can't use the CA, even a narrow front CA for a one row cultivating tractor. Just mount one side of the cultivator on the tractor and leave the other side in the barn. :)

the CA doesn't have as much clearance in the center of the tractor as the B has.
Just get a B and a CA. Sounds like a good reason to buy 2.
You can pull almost as much with a B as you can with a CA. I farmed 14 acres with a B for years. Now I have 1 acre and have 14 tractors. Bob

R W - You are right . You only know your needs and wants. So far you have compared a wd-45 to ca and a ca to a B and continually state that you want to cultivate one row at time. You can use any tractor to due that from a simplicty walk be hind garden tractor to a D21 with a 20 ft. tool bar cultivator by oving or removing the shanks and spacing the rows right.

If you' not sure which one you really want, look for a CA or B and whatever comes up first in the condition you want grab it

If you have a CA and the two row cult. for it why would you not use it as a two row. I had a CA and before I found the two row cult. for it I modified a cult that was made for a B and used it for one row.

I would suggest a D10 with factory 3 point hitch. Best of both worlds.

I have chose to buy a "B", I have compared it to my other options and seems like the only wise choice for what I am guna use it for. The D10 is NOT a option WAY too much $$$!

CA's were used one row down here in tobacco country. Tobacco rows are wide so the extra width didn't matter. There are one row cultivator frames for CA's. They are just like the ones for D 10's.

In fact I saw a CA set up for one row sittng in a salvage yard about 2 months ago, cultivator frames and all. Fortunately the guy had the good sense not to cut it up and had set it off to the side. Unfortunately for me things are financially tough these days and I was selling stuff I didn't want to part with. No way I could rescue the CA.
