Pulling the disc and the engine over revved. Throttle lever also moves on its own. Have tractor in my little shop now. Pulled dist yesterday, gov shaft has a lot of play. Book says remove rad next,then gov. Anything else I need to do while I'm in there? Thanks

....and I remember MACK saying a nicked or slightly distorted timing gear tooth will cause bad harmonics and lead to another failure....sounds reasonable. Don't cut a corner?

Have the gov off. Ears? on the weights have been hitting the inside of the housing. Guess something is missing or broken ? I'll try to get some pics posted. Thanks

i have not reviewed all the you tube movie... Not saying the guy is 100% right.. but its a good base line for disassembly and repairs..

For the record, a D-15 does not have a spring connected to the carburetor linkage. None. Just another old wives tale.

Thanks Dr Allis. Any thoughts on what happened to my governor? My plan is to replace it and also the larger bushing. Not sure how to pull the small one. Thanks again everyone!

Probably a bad plan when you have zero tooling to do so. I've OH'd 5 or 6 of those in the last 50 years and never replaced either bushing.  The failure ?? 60 or 70 years of no one replacing the weights with new ones I'd imagine. Same old story with the 201/226 being far worse.
