Got an armadillo problem at the farm and is time to find a solution. My cure for them in the past has been 00 buck shot. The problem with this is I have to just happen to catch them out there. I've read by taking away the food source (grubs) they'll be discouraged from coming back. The problem I run in to with that is the area I need to treat. The total area I would say is roughly 3(?) acres by the time it's all included. To buy enough granular insecticide to spread over that area, I'll be fairly deep into it. Any home remedy ideas or just bite the bullet and kill some grubs?

If you figure it based on sq ft, there's 43560 in an acre. 1 10lb bag of insecticide covers 7500 sq ft so 6 bags per acre or 18 bags for 3 acres at $26/bag. Not a terrible expense but it's there something cheaper?

If you can find it, BT is the natural way to go, its the pathogen that infects grubs, and kills them...  Bacillus Thurengensis, IIRR.  Problem is there have been production problems, the past few years. It will self propagate and stay in the soil, if conditions are right..Wink

WE are using a Serious material, Local Farm Supply has it, Dimethoate.  ABSOLUTELY Vile.  NO Livestock, Pets nor Humans on the ground for up to four days after spraying.  1 quart to 10 acres in a water suspension pasturage spray,  for around a Home NO MORE THAN 1 PINT per 3-5 acres.  Will Not have grubs, worms, army caterpillar worms, NO burrowing or digging insects AT ALL.  Lasts upward of 4 months.  Local north of here had Army Worms, DESTROYED a Hay Field TWO Days, sprayed all around that as well on that and GONE in four.  Were so thick appeared ground was moving, ALL dead after.  Moles and Voles will leave, so too mice, Skunks and dillars will also leave.  if leave any in the barn or workshop exposed, even the spiders die off.  Did NOT and will not ask what I paid for it, just ran the card and brought Two gallons home.
