One of the nice things about anti-seize is that you remember you used it for hours when you look at your hands. Messiest stuff ever!!!

Maintenance guys at the factory used to tell me this.
Anti-seeze keeps parts from freezing together. It's not a lubricant. Anti-sieze has metallic flakes in it and will create increased wear if used on pivot points. |

My thoughts...anti-seize is great for a lot of things, but brakes isn't one of them! Dry, dry, dry...that's what it needs to be in that area...

How much air-gap do you have between the disc lining and the metal rubbing surface ?? I like to get it down tight, like .020" to .025".

shimed it on the loose end of the spec.
cause that was the shims I had. Figured .005 was close enough. seeing you have .150 worth of wear material before you get to rivets. And we all know how good those rivets will stop you. :-))) |

brakes work FANTASTIC and ill be able to adjust the brake rod in 5, 10 , 20 years, or probably as long as the tractor is around.
antiseze goes on threaded adjustment rod below the brake band and the discs. I've got another 17IV ready to go in the shop for left brake issue. Yep, brake adjustment rod is FROZEN and can't get pedals even.... Edited by Macon Rounds - 04 Jul 2023 at 12:28am |
