You can use the hydraulic outlet on the transport vale if it is single acting
A front mount pump like used on a loader can be added along with a two way valve for independent remotes.

A series one should be fine with a single acting cylinder on a haybine.

Single acting cylinder is all you need as header reel weight will be enough for it to lower back down without having a 2-way cylinder.
You will need a HP cylinder to match the 17 Hyd Pressure, plus it needs to be single acting or a 2-way that you can set up as vented.

If you go with a 2-way valve to the left of the seat, you can operate a 2-way cylinder and it will also be at the right pressure setting of 2,000 to 2,200 PSI and use the internal hydraulic pump. The negatives are the internal pump is only 4 to 5 GPM and will be a little slower on a 2-way cylinder. The internal pump also is dead when you push in the foot clutch, so the hand clutch needs to be used. If you only need one single acting/single hose cylinder to do the job, get one that fits the 3400-3700 psi hydraulic system of the tractor and the raise speed will be fine.

Just buy a breather plug for the cylinder you have now.  Put it in the hose port you don't need.  Any farm store should have one.

You will need a cylinder that is rated for a much higher pressure.  Typical new cylinders are 2200 psi.  Early D17 hydraulic operating pressure is around 3500 psi.

Do be sure you get a HIGH PRESSURE one way ram. 
In our day one customer added washers to the unloading valve moving the pressure way up over 3500.  He wanted to make his loader lift more.  He blew several loader rams.  Luckily no one was hurt.
