Don't you just refill the rearend? There's just two transmission compartments on that tractor.

Fill/level plug on each side of the rear end housing kind of behind the lower link arms. If the drain plug is 6 o'clock, the level plug is around 3:30.

I am unfamiliar with a 200, but are you SURE it has bull gears?? I just assumed a 200 would have straight axles like a 190 ?? When I hear "bull gear", I am reminded of the best built tractor of all time= D-17 regardless of series #!!

Really? I was not aware of this. Does it take 821 or a gear oil? You actually have to fill it separately?

Yes, they are filled separately. Either 80EP or 821. MACK

The 2 "Final Drive" compartments; 1 on each side, hold oil for bull gears. Book calls for 8 qts each of AC #715 gear lube, I've been using a 75w-90 synthetic for about 25 years. I check mine every winter and change them every 3 or 4 years. I only put about 200 hrs/ year on it. You may need to partially remove the lower anchor pins for the 3 pt. cylinders to service them.

Thanks Lonn,I just recall dad taking the d-17 bull gear to a local welding shop to have a tooth welded back on to the main gear after it fell off of the jack while switching tire/wheels for the N/I mounted picker
![]() ![]() ![]() It also "jacked-up" the PTO shaft, was never able to make a somewhat hard turn with pto engaged without shearing a pin !! Edited by FREEDGUY - 23 Apr 2019 at 6:18pm |
