I am restoring a 1944 C with mag and lights my first Allis tractor. I have taken lots of pictures but I guess not of the right thing or I am getting too old for this game. I can't figure out just where to route the new wire harness after it comes out of the casting at the rear of the engine. I took the old harness off a year ago and can't remember how it was routed. As I search internet it appears. To be on the left side behind the air cleaner and above the generator. I even found 1 picture with it routed over the top of the valve cover. Also confused as to route of wire's to the lights up front,is there a block mounted some where on the radiator.
Then today I was going to bolt on the carburetor and can't figure out how to fasten the light spring that keeps the throttle from vibrating. If you guys can help me I promise I will come back with more questions. Will post a picture if I can figure out how. I can't figure that one out so will figure it out later. |

Hooks at the carb lever and throttle rod then hook the other end to a manifold bolt.

I though that might be the way it was meant to be setup, then decide to wait till I put the aircleaner in place. Thought maybe it connected to that. Thanks

If you can show me the main wire harness coming from the back of the engine to the front and where you ran the wires up to the head lights. That would be great. Trying to figure out how you post a picture right now. I am new to this except for one post a year ago.
Thanks |

Just reviewed some of my pictures from the past and found one that shows the harness routed behind the air cleaner and then over the top of generator bracket. I am still unclear as to how they route the front light wires so they are out of the way. I did post some pictures in my profile this morning, now I have to figure out how one views them. also found it interesting reading the post from last night. It was stated that the Model C never had a C decal on it. Was glad to read that before I go and plaster decals all over.

Ducking out from under the gas tank area the front the wiring harness ran behind the air cleaner, behind the Carburetor, along side the block behind the Generator to the cutout relay. From there, the headlight circuit branched off from the cutout relay to the Headlight junction stud on the fan shroud. The Mag kill wire (if equipped) went around the front of the valve cover to the side of the Magneto where the "kill tab" is located. The headlight circuitry went over the top of the fan shroud to the right headlight, (sitting on the Tractor) and of coarse the left headlight got fed right off the junction. If you need some pics, I might have some that I took years ago of my B. HTH

There must have been a insulated block that mounted to the fan shroud that the light wires terminated on? U am now going to look at wiring schematics again.
Then heding out for the day. Thanks

-
--no block...I put a spade connector 4 inches from the radiator on the light wires so I can remove when needed.... there is a rubber grommet/tube in the radiator shroud to keep the wire from rubbing.

Not a C but I'm sure same as my B. U can c where it comes from behind the air cleaner. There is a wire that comes out of the harness that goes in front of the valve cover to the distributor/ or mag. Hope this helps

Nice looking tractors gentlemen. I cannot tell you how pleased I am to see my favorite - the B - looking so good and what a great job being done on the C. Hard to believe the age of these units. Looks like you have some a cultivator and plow for the C.
Thank you both for what you are doing to keep the name Allis Chalmers Alive. Take good care of my favorite and it's brother the C. Good Luck! Bill Long |

Harris, when you want to edit something (
Thank you I will up them up.) Just go up to the right side and you will see "Post Options".... go down to "Edit Post" and click on that. If you were the writer of that missive, ONLY YOU can "Edit" what ever it is that is written. You can change what ever you want or add in that thread. Give it a try, go up and edit the above.....
When you add a pic, make sure that the cursor is at the end of where you want to put the picture. Otherwise you get what you did above. What I try to do (if I remember) is to go to the end of the sentence and click enter twice.....then add the pic. Give it a shot. |
