Hi, I am doing a little research on my Uncle's behalf. He has a D19 gas with a tired engine and a bad governor. Wondering what the best option would be for a diesel engine swap. He also would like to update the hyd. system to high volume/low pressure. Thank you in advance for your input, Jim

Yeah, that's what I suggested! He has a 190xt but really likes his D19 and wants to update. Edited by J.Bronk(WI) - 24 Sep 2012 at 4:30pm |

I've always thought swapping a 433T or 433TI would be nice into a D-19. Guys have shoe horned a 301 into a D-17/19 so the clutch end has been done before. With the shorter engine you will likely have room for a front drive hydraulic pump.

Im with Calvin, a 433T would be super in a d-17 and probably pretty sweet in a 19 also. I would think you would come closer to being able to use factory pieces and make the 433T work rather than having a machinist friend thats super bored help you shoehorn a 5.9 cummins in there.

D19 powertrain will not take a 5.9 cummins for very long

Don't need a front pump with the 433 engine. It has timing cover drive ability like a 301 does.

Could also put a perkins out of a 175 in one. My uncle has one turboed. He had it dynoed and it was over 100HP. Personaly I wouldn't put a cummins in any Allis I own.

Tell him to drive that 190XT up alongside that D19 and start comparing things such as the steering, injection pump in relation to the D19 steering rod, radiator inlet/outlet, tach drive location and the direction it turns, etc. Its a silly waste of time when 180/185's are so reasonably priced.

could a 354 perkins be bolted in, utilizing parts from a 170/175, and it's 236/248 bellhousing? Would be an interesting tractor.

5.9 in a D19? Sure and the machine shop I use took a 262D out due to what they felt might be a rod about to let go in a very nice looking late 19.
First thing I said when I saw the tractor in his shop was that the rear end would not hold up very long as he is known for makin power with 5.9's for truck pullin.
Owner is still pulling her locally and they swear they did not touch the rear, except pulling the 3-pt. assy. for weight reduction and installing a blanking plate.
Cummins is supposed to be turning close to 500hp and the fella even throws the PD when I've seen it pull.

The 433t is a allis 4cyl engine used in the 6000 series tractors and k2,f2,f3 combines and some industrial applications. Allis basically removed two cylinders from the 301 that was used in 190,200,7000,7010,7020,8010 tractors and several models of combines. All the 433 engines were turbocharged and some applications were intercooled.
