Sounds like mine. It was overhauled before I got it, they didn't replace the cam bearings. It is a full flow filtration system. My solution is to use Rotella T 30 weight, and a quart of Lucas every oil change. I have used the tractor very hard this summer on the brush hog, reclaiming CRP land, and have had no problems. The engine uses no oil, and has great power. However, be forewarned , rods for that engine are about $200 the last,time I saw
something posted about them. Also when you have been working it hard, especially brush hogging, check your radiator screen often, and let it idle at 1/4 throttle for few minutes before pushing throttle completely up. HTH
