The serial number is located on the right side of the tractor (clutch side) by the bell housing.

Here is a link with a picture and serial listings.

Do the engines in the D14 tractors carry a seperate serial number? Working on the valves now. There is a different procedure (slightly) for different engine heads in the d14. The book refers to a model number, but i'm not sure if that is the serial number on the bell housing , or if there is a different number actually stamped on the engine. Anyone know?

the TRACTOR serial number is on the left side, bell housing flange... the ENGINE serial number should be in front of that, on the engine flange.... I believe all the D14 engines had the 149 cubic inch motor, so the serial number will be 149- xxxxxx.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.
