i am getting ready to paint my d 17, has anyone used valspar paint, and how did it turn out for you. i also need a couple pieses of sheet metal for it, i need the grill screen the cone it fastens to the 2 little side covers under the fuel tank, a set of lights. and decals. who makes a good set of decals, not asking for much am i. thanks David

Valspar worked well for me. The vendors on this site should have most of the stuff you need. Give them a call.

I am a shade tree painter and have used the Valspar paint with good results using a HVLP sprayer. A neighbor who is a good painter told me to apply the 1st and 2nd coats without hardner and to apply a light "wash" coat (mostly thinner with a little paint...I get mine by emptying the paint from the container and adding a little thinner) after the last coat without hardner then allow the paint to dry for a day and apply the final coat with the hardner after it dries to the touch. Followed his advice (and after a few tries to learn the ins and outs of the wash coat) have become a respectful painter.
You can obtain good decals from Jim D (OK Tractor) and Tony C (Tony's Tractor). Norm (Norm's Toys) can probably help you with the needed tin
