So got stage one done today. Picked up my operators, service and parts manuals for my newly acquired 1955 CA.
I see it says that the hydraulic system and final drives call for SAE 20 motor oil?

I would have thought it had hydraulic oil.

As far as the engine I am going to use Petro Canada Duron HP 15W40. When I looked at the data sheets I see it has higher zinc levels than Rotella.

My tractor also already had a WIX engine oil filter on it, so I just got another one of those, but the number has been superseded to 57011.

Am I on the right track or do you have any other suggestions?

Transmission/hydraulic system and final drives will use todays Universal Trans/Hydraulic fluid. No manufacturer went out and re-printed the 1950's Owners Manuals to reflect modern day lubricants. 20W non-detergent oil was best in 1955. Universal Trans/hyd oil is best today.

So my final drives and hydraulics call for 20W above 45*F and 10W below that.

Now mind you these manuals are from 1955.

Petro Canada only makes a 10W and a Duron 30 Monograde. The 10W says
it works for hydraulics, and Cat and Allison transmissions.
The 30 does not specify this.

Do you think the 10W will be okay or should I look for a 20W from someone else?

So Dr.Allis......so would this be any good? Or better to use than the monograde oil?

What about the Kubota Premium UDT I have for my Kubota?

When I opened their website and clicked on "OEM APPROVAL", it brought up a list of manufacturers fluids that it is compatible with. AC Power Fluid 821 was compatible, so the answer is yes, it is what DrAllis was talking about.

From prior threads on this forum, the experts are saying you can use it everywhere on the old AC tractors, except the engine.

OK thank's guys. I'm north of Sault Ste. Marie Jay.

I just wasn't sure, with it being an old wore machine if it was better to go back to the thicker monograde engine oils.

And I always have pails of Kubota UDT here, so that's why I was wondering if that was compatible also.

Thank you all. Maybe I will just use my Kubota UDT then. That way there everything I have will be the same and I always stock it here.
