Mark, i GOOGLE the number and it came up with an ALLIS post from 2 years ago... Nothing at that time... I still see NOTHING as a search.

I think getting ID, OD, thickness, etc might be the only way to search.

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

they are steering box bearings for an ED-40, they don't cross in any of my old NAPA, Ford, or Deere bearing books either, shame someone hasn't documented the true bearing ID number in all these years! Just surfing and reading, it seems some have even machined their boxes to fit different bearings!

I wonder if other Allis Tractor Models used the same Steering Box ?

EG the British D-270 or D-272, French FD3, FD4, FD5.

What about other Tractor Manufacturers?

Allis did NOT make bearings.. They have bought them from SKF, NGK, FAG or other... They do exist somewhere.... The problem as Joe said is no one has ever cross referenced the numbers... If you had the ID , OD, thickness , ball bearing, roller bearing, , open cage, closed cage, etc... you could get the size from the Bearing Books.

Steve

Just curious where you got the idea that Allis manufactured bearings.

Hey Mark!!  How's the world treating you and Julie?  Hope all is well with you both.  Any plans to come over here and visit Hutch again this coming year?

I know Jim ( wiplowboy ) had an ED40 that  he was tearing into.  You could PM him and see if he got into that bearing.  He's a LOT of help and has a lot of knowledge and he's willing to share it.  Give him a try.

Gary, can you READ ?  I said ALLIS does NOT make bearings, EIther does FORD, CHEVY, DEER or others.. You cant say since ALLIS is out of business, that bearings are NOT available... All manufactures that build equipment pick out bearings from a STANDARD CATALOG.. If you know the dimensions, the bearings are available..  In fact, i doubt ALLIS even made the gear box.. Probably was a standard, off the shelf item at that time.

Same goes with oil and grease and tires.

Steve

Your not on the Political Section now so it's OK to use your brain!

      "Allis did NOT make bearings.."

I asked you a simple question, so a simple answer 'to my question' will suffice.

What inspired you to post anything related to Allis manufacturing bearings ?

"You cant say since ALLIS is out of business, that bearings are NOT available."

Who said that ?

YEA, keep your HATE and RAGE on the political page Gary.

ALLIS did NOT MAKE BEARINGS is a correct statement and very relative to this discussion.

BEARINGS are normally available if you know the size. Very few bearing sizes have been taken off the market in the last 80 years.
