I am pre sure that would devalue the B even if it had a blown motor to start with. Those motors in our skid steers didn't last long enough to drive across the barn.

Wow nice flathead setup. I always like the look of those just reminds me that people did amazing things with what little they had in the past. I often amazed at what you can do when you put your mind to it and how well the old tractors where built if you did that to a modern sub 50 hp tractor it would break in two before you started the the motor. Thanks for sharing these are soo cool.

Fred for the record I was only referring to the Wisconsin motors. I don't know how many of those gas 4 cylinder motors we blew in ford skid steers but I know we never blew an isuzu motor in the John deere we replaced it with. I think these project tractors are really cool.

The grill is for one of the three 55's cars I own. The truck is a 81 lowered and chopped short box step side project. The blower is for what ever I want to put it in. You guys have not seen hardly any of my toys or projects yet.

Yeah,,Fasstman,,,ditto on what Shameless just said,,,, We would LOVE to see some pics of your projects,,,,but don't pay no 'tention to ole Shameless bout wantin some pics,,,cause,,,,cause he's the world's worst bout showing us HIS "stuff" but I think I got his number, tho,,, ![]() Fill us in on what/how you married the SBC to the Allis tranny,,,I see a peek of a custom adapter plate, but what did you do on the clutch/pressure plate,,,?? Lot'sa dudes here wantin to know,,,,,OK,,?? Fact is what got me started on Ac's was, I bought a D14 Industrial Backhoe/Loader with a bad engine, and I acquired a D17 engine out of a very, very low hour demo combine that I wanted to stick in the D14,,,but I received more negative comments bout doing that than you would believe, so I am really likin this thread,,,so,,,give it up, guy,,,OK,,,???? ![]() ![]() |

When you put the d17 engine onto the d14 tractor did it just bolt up or did you need an adaptor? I have a spare d15 industrial from the transmission back and have wondered if it would only bolt up to the d14 and d15 or if it would match a d17.

Hey Dan,,,I have NOT YET done the trick with the D17 (226) engine,,,it's on my Hi Priority wish list. I recently bought a 149 from a member that is being moved from eastern Illinois to New Mexico by the great members of the Allis Express,,,yea,,!! Hopin to get it home in mid August,,,!! Gotta finish my D15 LPG II first,,,, The engineer in me says it can be done as I did get a copy of an "adapter" from another member to marry the 226 to the 149 tranny/bellhousing. Just gotta get the 226 here to figure out which flywheel/pressure plate/clutch to go with. I'm thinkin using the 149 flywheel on the 226 (with the appropriate machine work) cause from preliminary research, the 226 flywheel won't fit inside the 149 bellhousing,,,?? Ole Fasstman is a great example of shade tree ingenuity that you saw in most farmers that learned to "make do" with what was available,,,!!! YEA,,!! ![]() ![]() |
