Anything is possible (except getting 97 cat converters for my F150). There have been a few pictures here years ago.

There was one in a 'B' at the GOTO in Hickory Corners more than a few years ago.
Same guy also had a Small block Chevy in a 'G' mounted in front where the cultivators would have been. Frame was made higher to clear the engine. Owner used to build race cars. G with a rear mounted Olds 350 at the Portland GOTO in 08. Notice my tag line!

Well you won't need any front wheel weights when you are done. I always wanted to put a 3 cylinder diesel into my farmall H but since the block is still good I would probably just go with the rebuild of my motor. I always like the look of an old flat head ford crammed into classic tractors looks more period correct of a hot rod can be correct. I did also consider upgrading my farmall to a gas in line 6. Those look really cool in small tractors to me because it is like a smaller version of the 100hp diesel tractors from the 70s and 80s.

If you want to hot rod a B, why not use something different than the small block chevy? That's been done to everything. Suggestions include a chevy big block, a Ford 289/351, or (my favorite in an old tractor) a Ford flathead V8.

I always thought that a 292 Chevy inline 6 would be a nice install in a WC or WD/WD45 chassis. I have a spare Mercruizer 140HP inline Chevy 4 cylinder that I wanted to toss in my WC some day. The ole WC is just sittin' there wit' no engine in it. Was thinking on coupling an old 3 speed or 4 speed Saginaw Tranny behind it and coupling it to the rear. Maybe after I retire, I can start that project. Can't get much of anything done right now. This working for a living crap is for the birds man! LOL! Steve@B&B

You make retirement sound alot like farming. Every one thinks since you don't go to a job site everyday you can take time to help them and somehow they never can come and "return" the favor by helping you. I love the times people tell me well I would have come to help if I knew when you needed help. Hello I am working on a farm alone everyday just come by anytime and there will be something you can help with. Oh and don't get me started about money for work if I figured that out I would be very depressed.

SHAMELESS I would love to see that. I have a WW II 1930 something I think Chevy military 1.5 ton 4 wd truck that I have debated pulling the straight 6 out of and upgrading it to a Cummins that truck could really use more power. That would give me a nice running straight 6 to use for a project tractor. I would really like to put it into a d serries to have live power when I am done. Not that my d17 is under powered just that it would be cool to salvage a different tractor without a motor.

man...a Cummins in that truck would be awesum! the old dude that did this conversion did a wonderful job! it looks almost like factory. it needs a little TLC cuz I have it sitting outside right now, hopefully I can get to it this winter!

I want a 3 cylinder Perkins to put in my OC46 track loader but haven't found a running engine I can afford. Converting the OC46 will be WAY easier cause there is a drive shaft between the bell housing and the tranny.

Wow nice flathead setup. I always like the look of those just reminds me that people did amazing things with what little they had in the past. I often amazed at what you can do when you put your mind to it and how well the old tractors where built if you did that to a modern sub 50 hp tractor it would break in two before you started the the motor. Thanks for sharing these are soo cool.

Lot'sa dudes here wantin to know,,,,,OK,,?? Fact is what got me started on Ac's was, I bought a D14 Industrial Backhoe/Loader with a bad engine, and I acquired a D17 engine out of a very, very low hour demo combine that I wanted to stick in the D14,,,but I received more negative comments bout doing that than you would believe, so I am really likin this thread,,,so,,,give it up, guy,,,OK,,,????

When you put the d17 engine onto the d14 tractor did it just bolt up or did you need an adaptor? I have a spare d15 industrial from the transmission back and have wondered if it would only bolt up to the d14 and d15 or if it would match a d17.

Hey Dan,,,I have NOT YET done the trick with the D17 (226) engine,,,it's on my Hi Priority wish list. I recently bought a 149 from a member that is being moved from eastern Illinois to New Mexico by the great members of the Allis Express,,,yea,,!! Hopin to get it home in mid August,,,!! Gotta finish my D15 LPG II first,,,, The engineer in me says it can be done as I did get a copy of an "adapter" from another member to marry the 226 to the 149 tranny/bellhousing. Just gotta get the 226 here to figure out which flywheel/pressure plate/clutch to go with. I'm thinkin using the 149 flywheel on the 226 (with the appropriate machine work) cause from preliminary research, the 226 flywheel won't fit inside the 149 bellhousing,,,?? Ole Fasstman is a great example of shade tree ingenuity that you saw in most farmers that learned to "make do" with what was available,,,!!! YEA,,!!

A v8 pic in a b W/gov setup. There is a 3/4" plate to mount engine to torque tube. A spacer between crank and stock b flywheel. The b flywheel is drilled to chevy bolt pattern. It uses the stock b clutch and pressure plate. I had to redo the radiator w/bigger inlet on top and move the lower hose fitting to the opposite side and enlarge.

He DIDN'T, and no it won't just bolt up. The way to do it, is just like described for the small block. Make an adapter plat that will let you marry the 226 to the 14 bellhousing. Measure how far back you need to move the flywheel so the starter and everything else will still work. Alter the 14 flywheel to bolt to the 226 and space it back into the original position in the 14 bell housing. Then go play

MR. Charlie Tucker,,,,Thank you,,,thank you,,,thank you,,,!!!! While I DO have a 149 coming,, I have no clue what it is going to take to put a spark in it. So, I am goin to pick up the 226 and check it out as well and see which is the easiest repair. The 226 was in a demo combine and is very low hours and was pulled and been in storage since. The owner says it not stuck as he would roll it 2-3 times a year,,so it might be a keeper,,!! I'm sure glad you chimed in bout the spacer to locate the flywheel,,,cause I had always been leaning to putting the 226 in that D14,,,and now I;m getting excited all over again,,,,,!!!!
