We did one 2 winters ago, it's not to bad if you have a overhead hoist or forklift and a service manual. Had to make a couple special tools, it would definitely go faster the second time, and if you get stuck ask on here, lots of people will help.

Invest in the ALLIS service manual still available from AGCO, almost all soft parts still available from AGCO, not cheap, and there are some stashes of hard parts to be had.
Depending on what is wrong with yours, it can be a few grand, to well into the $5 to 7K probably not worth it, I know some guys who you can get rebuilt for less.

More information is needed on this problem before an accurate diagnosis can be given. This could be nothing more than an oil supply problem.

Well I wouldn't run it anymore.
As Lynn said, we need more information. It is time to pull oil pressures on the pump first, then clutch packs, and find out where the problem is. At this point the damage may be done, even if it is the pump. It takes very little continued slipping of the clutch pack to burn one out.

Well if you were considering doing the repair yourself, you are probably more than skilled enough to take some pressure readings???
Also just to be absolutely sure, does the PTO turn when the tractor won't move, when you are trying to move? (IN gear, clutch out) Does the problem exist in every gear, or just a couple, or maybe only one? Edited by Orange Blood - 15 May 2016 at 5:40pm |

What does the engine do when it won't move, does it pull down, or run like it is unloaded? By pull down, I mean, like it is working hard, not just a bump in RPM downward.
When it won't move, is it pulling an implement, like a disk in the ground, or just itself across the yard? Edited by Orange Blood - 15 May 2016 at 6:06pm |

It runs like it should and does not run hard in the rpms and that it is running it around the yard

Do you feel a solid détente when you shift through the gears? Have you had it on a good pull to see if it will pull a good load before it stops? What do you do to make it move again?
Where are you checking the oil? Does the 1800 light on dash work? If so does it come on when it stops? MACK

don`t own anything big enough to make it work hard enough will pull anything and that when it happens just let it sit for a while basically when the tractor has cooled down and nothing is warm it will move again then and yeah have been checking everything that i can got the book out and look to see if looking in the rit places and it is.

I think it is loooow on oil. Pull the dip stick under the left side of the seat. Not the first one I've saw do the same thing. Low on oil.

as in the advice above- first do the checks. Get the service man and locate the check plugs, air pressure each clutch pack and LISTEN for pack application and for leakage in all 6 - IF that passes the you have either an oil supply or pressure issue... could be anything from cable adjustment, gearoter pump relief valve modulator etc...

well found the problem there was a plug on the rear end that i had never known about the worst part is that i had just bought the tractor less then a year ago then we started to planting corn and just put it in the barn and thought it would be a good idea to start on it with how much rain we got and that the tractor was a mess and that the guy before me never took care of anything and that there was mud and crap all over and missed the plug and that it was very low on oil to where it took a lot of oil so now it moves and run fine. Thanks to everyone who had tried to point out things for me to check.

I would guess he found the dip stick under the seat. Low oil in rear end would not keep it from moving. MACK

Kinda my thoughts exactly Mack. Credit to you for pushing this point, I guess I just believed the guy when he said the oil was up.
