I accidentally mixed up the lifter rods in my B engine. Is it terribly important to have them matched up perfectly or will they wear themselves in again to the new position?

Push rods should make no big deal what spot they are in just have to adjust rocker when all back together. Which you should do even if you had them in the original spots anyway

Not to worry! They will be fine. I have always tossed then into a pail, wire wheeled them and washed them in old fashion degreaser called farm gasoline.
