I’ve got two sets of snap coupler 4 bottoms I’ve acquired from the farm next to us....same friend that gave me the narrow front D17 I used as a teen to plow tobacco with that dad and I restored last year. The plan is to try and rebuild both depending on how and if I can get parts.I hate to rob parts from one to another. So can y’all tell me if these are 70 or 80 series and who or where I can find parts?

MD, from the picture it appears it is a spring trip plow which would mean its a 80 series IMO. I have a 70 series 4 bottom that uses shear bolts.
Appears to be a lot of sand where its parked. What part of NC are you? I have a sister that lives outside of Kenly, used to love watching the tobacco planting and harvesting years ago. Seams soybeans and corn have taken over those fields these days. Mom and dad would schedule visits those times of year because it was so interesting.

Over in the technical forum there is a post Plows 101 that covers model details and a couple links to plow operating and parts books.  For sure model 80 plows.

If you need parts don't forget Sandy Lake they are a sponsor hers and are in Upper New York State.  Can probably tell you if you can get shares, shins, moldboards, and landslides.  Perhaps if you look around the owners place may find some things you can use.  Plows don't look that bad.  Little bit of plowing would make them shine again.
Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck!

I’m about 40 mi south of Kenly, right off I-95 and just east of Ft Bragg and yessir it’s going in that direction too from tobacco.Mostly corn ,beans ,sweet potatoes and cotton.Tobacco is dying out.Dad and I have been clearing a bunch of land behind us that’s mostly swamp that we’re trying to dry and we’ve got about a 3 acre pond dug right now and so he’s moved a lot of the equipment to the back and out of sight.

In the picture, the top plow is a fully mounted Model #84.  The bottom plow is also a Model #84 but it would appear to have a tailwheel (even though you can't see it in the picture).  The difference is in the beaming screw (the top plow is fixed; on the bottom plow the beaming screw slides when the plow is raised).

Mike,
Looks like you found another project/s! Some parts are available. Dont forget Dave the plowman. H has a lot of parts too.
So I had this same delima a couple years back. I had a 3 bottom and a 2 bottom. Neither one was complete and they both needed repairs and parts. I hated to rob parts too. But finally decided that one set of plows was better than no set so, I had to pick. I chose to build the 3 bottom plows even though I only had WD tractors at the time. The two bottoms would have been a better choice for these WD series since our ground is mostly clay.  I took both apart picked the best components and built a good used set of SC three bottoms. The D17 and the WD45 pull them well.
Looking forward to your build.
(I do have a build thread on here somewhere, may bring it to the top for your viewing too.)
Mike I brought my old plow refurb thread up for you to view.
Regards,
 Chris

Look on the backside of the wearing parts for a part number.  Then you can use that to find out which series the bottom assemblies are to get replacement parts. until you know which bottoms you have searching for parts is a waste of time.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

Good info there Chris ,thanks!! Dad redone a set of two bottoms a few years ago but they were grandpa’s that he used with his CA and were in really good shape to start with. These two are gonna be a little time consuming....but all this will be after I’m done with the D19 here shortly.
