Ok back at this thing. Basically a junkyard tractor that I’ve got most of the stuff fixed - just ac and this filter light to figure out.

New filters installed correctly (I believe) screen in on left side, spring in on right side. Cannot get filter and temp light off. (I think they’re together to check when starting). Book says it’s just a ground plate that should lose ground when the oil pushes the plunger off the seat therefore shutting the light off. What am I missing? I ran new wire from idiot light down to sender - still nothing. Wondering if the spring was changed at one time? Am I understanding it correctly that the incoming line is the one with the sender on it, and it goes thru the filter to return? Can’t wait for the rain to get out of here and to try it out doing some pulling.

Go to the filter housing. Pull the lead off the sending unit. If the light stays on the lead is shorting out.

Yeah I did that - it was so I ran a new wire from the dash down - so now it does shut off if it’s disconnected
