Just looking at a picture of the two next to each other, noticed the top over hangs on the 6000 and it slops back on 8000. Was there any real purpose for that.

The only thing I can think of is that the air filter assembly for the 6000s are up high directly behind the AC emblem. Sloping the grille back like the 8000s would not provide enough space for the air cleaner. Just my opinion.

And the 6000 series when it first came out was concurrent with the 7000 series, 1981 so I'd guess they didn't want to redesign those parts just months into production. Looks better swept forward anyhow.

That's what makes the later 6000 series look so good I think, is the 7000 styling paired with the 8000 series cab and decals.

Also with the grill sloped back on the 6000 series I think it would be hard to get batteries out without taking the grill off
