Just looking at a picture of the two next to each other, noticed the top over hangs on the 6000 and it slops back on 8000. Was there any real purpose for that.  Just something came to mind when seeing picture and wondered if there was a reason |

The only thing I can think of is that the air filter assembly for the 6000s are up high directly behind the AC emblem. Sloping the grille back like the 8000s would not provide enough space for the air cleaner. And the 6000 series when it first came out was concurrent with the 7000 series, 1981 so I'd guess they didn't want to redesign those parts just months into production.
