have a decent pulling wc with a good e gleaner engine what can i do to guild the engine real tough

You can... #1. have custom built pistons and sleeves installed by boring your block and increasing the finished bore to around 4 5/8".....#2. you can have someone weld on your crankshaft rod journals and regrind it to increase the stroke to upwards of 5 3/4" to 6 inches....#3. you will have to use different connecting rods, either from another engine or custom built.....#4. you can have the camshaft reground and timed differently than stock...#5. you can mill/grind/machine on the cylinder head and install bigger valves....#6. there are always larger carburators to be adapted to your engine....#7. there are as many different things you can do to make the engine "real tough" (as you say) as there are colors of the rainbow....it all depends on how many $$$$$ you have to spend and you better be sure of your local pulling Club rules and what they allow or don't allow. $500 dollars doesn't do much anymore....$5,000 is getting a little more serious.

amen to dr.allis!on the cheap side,grind your cam to 175 specs,send your carb to Motec,install 4 1/8 wd pistons,175 gov.spring,all adds up to about 65 ponies,also a boat load of torque!
