Howdy, I am looking to pull my grandfathers 200 AC tomorrow for the 2nd time since his passing. He bought the 200 brand new and we have countless photos and trophies of it around the house from the old pulling days. Anyway I am looking for any suggestions on how to improve its pulling. Or maybe ideas of what I could be doing wrong, as I can no longer ask him all these questions I have. I will be pulling it in the 10,000 pound turbo open class. I am almost certain he pulled it in 2nd gear high? If I remember correctly I get the tractor up to 3/4 throttle, and then full throttle once I am on the move? 10psi in the rear tires? I am hooking up to the stock location of the rear bar, not sure the exact name for that. Seems like it hooks very low to the ground? Would that make much of a difference? It has an upgraded injection pump, and a newer turbo. It’s about time for a new clutch but I will get everything out of this one I can. Any suggestions or recommendations are appreciate. It’s means a lot to me to pull this tractor at all. Thanks

Probably 2nd gear high side. I have no idea what size rubber or engine HP, but 2nd high works for me. 10 psi on the tires sounds low to be, but again I'm not there looking at your tires or the kind of dirt you are pulling on. You ideally want your drawbar as high (20 inches?) as the rules allow and as short (18 inches from the rear axle center) as it can be as per the rules. Drawbar height and length is of HUGE importance !!!! Make sure your foot clutch pedal has 2 inches of free-play in it. Adjust the clevis under the hood on the left side.

Sometimes the biggest variable in pulling is the nut behind the steering wheel...

Bolt your clevis tight with the largest bolt that goes thru it and the drawbar. Take up any play with washers in between. We had a hitch made from steel plate that bolted to the top of the drawbar with a hole cut large enough for the sleds hook.

All of those Cat 2 hitch type tractors I would remove the drawbar itself, turn the crosspiece around so it curves forward and like Dan said, bolt a plate on top (or bottom) of the crosspiece and get it shimmed to the max height allowed, which is usually 20 inches. Get those four bolts tight and don't jerk the sled !!

Does it have a gated Power Director lever or the push down to shift it?
