I would like to by a U Allis on steel
I have a choice of two or three U's that are available to me from a seller

One is with a continental motor and the other is with an allis motor
one crank start and one electric start
I have always like the crank start tractors

What should I look for that would make one tractor more desirable to a collector.

I suppose the older tractor is more valuable?

Any help would be appreciated

Paul

I think youll find that the crank start tractors rarely get driven. Id gowith an electris start and at least start it and drive a lap around the yard on a regular basis.

Does the electric start have the 6 volt generator?

Go with electric start, crank is OK when your young and everything is in good shape but if you have rotator cuf surgery and get older they are rough.

I have a UC with a starter and a hand crank U, both have the 318 UM motor. I will say, I love the sound of that motor under a load. It's nice to put a battery in the UC and hit the button. But if the U hasn't been sitting over a month, it will always hit on the 3rd quarter turn. If it's been sitting much longer than that, I pull 2 spark plugs and squirt a little gas in the cylinder. It usually starts pretty good.

Make a deal on both.
Pre-WW2 A-C tractors on steel wheels...because I'm too cheap to buy tires!

I have always loved the look of orange on steel

I also like the hand crank, vrs electric start

My dad tells of the time he watched Barney Oldfield  on a U Alllis, with a 4th gear race a model A at the fairground in Clay County Nebraska to promote rubber tires

My grandpa sold many WC, 2035,U, UCs on steel and rubber in Nebraska

Love that old orange

Thanks for all of your replies
