I noticed a couple things on my 190 while doing the preservation (190 Preservation thread) that have always been there since I remember but never thought about.

First is the PTO lever.  It has the long lever but being an early model tractor it most likely came with the knob set up under the seat.  I didn't know there was a different style until doing research this winter. You can tell the floor pan was notched with a torch to clear the newer style pto lever.

Second is the torch cut above the hydro oil suction tube.  Always been there and I wonder if there was a clearance issue at some time?

My question is are other 190s done the same way and if so would this have been something Grandpa did or other?  Who ever did them the PTO looks to have been done with a little more care in smoothing out the cut.

Many had the PTO lever changed for ease of operation. The cowl torching makes me think the two front platform bolts are sheared off allowing the front of the platform to sink. Early on they were only 1/2" bolts and then they went to 5/8" bolts for a more robust design.

Dr. Allis,

I think you hit the nail on the head.  I looked last evening and if I looked at the correct 2 bolts the head looks to be a 5/8".  Probably replaced many years ago.

Thanks,
David

Cameron,

If your question is referring to the platform mounting.  All is good and solid.

I used the tractor yesterday for about an hour to do some light shredding and it was nice to drive it.  This was the first time everything worked as far as 3 point, position controls, etc.  All worked well except a badly leaking lift cylinder.  I replaced the seals when I was working on the tractor but must not have done it quite right.  Actually both cylinders are leaking so I will pull and take to a repair shop that specializes in hydraulic cylinders.

David
