    Posted: 08 Apr 2024 at 8:48pm
Hi all, does any one have any suggestions where I might find a pair of hood side panels for a 6080 (any 6000 series would do I think)? I finally was able to get my dream tractor at auction. When the truck arrived today both panels had blown off on the trip. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Colfax tractor might have some, they are a long way from you but they do ship daily. 515-674-3001. That really sucks that your tractor showed up missing those panels!

Ouch good luck.  Most salvage yards have a waiting list. $$$$$  ...and does the hauler have insurance ?
Somewhere I saw a picture of a 6080 owner who modified the side sheets off the 7000 series to fit. . IF someone picked up the side sheets and knew what they were - they found a high price road kill find.

I would definitely have the trucking company's insurance cover the loss.

I did that once, bought a 6060 in Kentucky, looked back after a few miles the panels were blown up against the loader,, stopped and put them in the Club Cab of my Dodge- frieghting moment,,,

When I bought our 6080 it arrived with strap around hoods. But the hood must have blown because the fiberglass was cracked. But the right hood is bolted on

Thanks for the support. Yes the truck broker's insurance is supposed stand behind it but you can't make them magically appear. I even told them specifically to make sure the hood panels were secure. I even suggested a ratchet strap or even good ol' duct tape. I could have dealt with a few scratches or even cracks at this point. I also asked to have it backed onto the trailer. I guess you just can't rely on anyone any more

See if you can have one of your local trucker guys put it on face book. You never know maybe someone seen them fly off or seen them laying on side of road.
Buddy of mine had truck and lowbed stolen and his wife put on face book with there trucker friends. Both were found that way before cops figured it out.
That’s crazy that you gave all that instructions and still had issues

And sadly this will get worse as the older drivers retire. And people are getting pushed through driving school

I hauled my 1st 8070 home about 200 miles. Was warned to load it backward concerning the doors. The trucker I hired to haul #2 from Wisconsin was experienced and knew all about which way thinks get loaded.
