Starts right up and runs like a swiss watch all the gears feel good has dual sets of remotes and 6 front weights I know that these are kinda a sought after small tractor I would be looking at it to possibly run a 9foot haybine and cultivate vegetables and rake hay with. The tac is broken and reads 7k on it however it seems to be a real tight tractor maybe it was a auger tractor? Tin is straight with the exception of the back of the fenders there are dented SN 1299 so it's a early one. Is it worth it at $4k?

Very nice tractor to do what you want. Price sounds good but you may want to check out a possible front leak. Serial number sounds close to mine, may be the 4.236 motor. Mine has been a nice tractor other than the wiring harness is toast.

It’s got the front racing stripes decal - Crop Hustlers model @ 62hp - nice tractor. Only diesels offered in the Crop Hustlers. Yes it’s worth $4k.

I think it worth the money specially the way you describe the tractor. The way some equipment selling this winter think it be hard to find anything for less than $4000.

Yes worth 4K but will have some wiring problems, Steve in NJ does not have wiring harness.  If starter does not engage always,  switches and wire connectors are bad, bypass with added  solenoid to fix!!!    Also that Donaldson air cleaner is too small for that engine, will cause rapid engine wear due to dust intake,  mine had to be overhauled twice in 10 years!!!  If you use for chopping, baling, disking, dirty work, install a Turbo or other above hood air precleaner!!!!!

Diesels, when used in high dust/dirt conditions will require more air filter maintenance than a gas tractor. They consume more air per hour. So, it's always advisable to have a "pre-cleaner" above the hood (especially on a diesel) to help sort out some of the dust and dirt before it gets to the air filter itself.  As far as the size goes, it is the exact same air cleaner assembly as a 180/185, so I don't think it's too small. It just will need more attention if it isn't equipped with a pre-cleaner in dusty conditions.

BUT:  According to an engineer at Donaldson whom I talked to long ago(1980s),  that cleaner is too small for that CID diesel engine!!!!!

Well then, according to him, it was too small for a 301 engine in a 180/185 as well.

Well  perhaps he was trying to sell some, but in any case, a Turbo fixed the problem, no   more problems in 30+ years....

Turbo on the 175? Like the idea because I think it is kind of weak. What needs changed, I was told before the block was different for the turbo 236 engines?

He's referring to a "Turbo" brand name pre-cleaner above the hood, not a turbo-charger.
