    Posted: 31 Dec 2019 at 2:39pm
Son in-law was changing a rear tractor tire Friday . Not sure exactly what happened but I think the jack slipped . His jaw is fractured in 3 places and he has a broken thumb . He seems to be doing ok . Didn't go to the doctor until Monday morning . Just a reminder that we all need to be careful . Thanks

I hadda similar experience, when changing out a tire, on the d-10.  lug wrench slipped, and I discovered an abcessed tooth, right of center, lower jaw! Had been feeling a little off fer a coupla days prior, when that abcess blew, it sure let me know what was wrong!  Hope he heals up quick!Wink

I tell my patients they can eat anything they can slurp through a straw. Week one that means scrambled eggs and pudding. By week 12 he will be putting pizza in a blender. Just don't take the wires off before you are suppose to

Non displaced fractures can do well without fixation. Make extra sure he is compliant with instructions. Sad times if he goes through 8-12 weeks then has a non union. Make sure you keep any insurance claim open. There is always a root canal or two in his future

Prayers for your son-in-law's complete recovery. Tell him to be patient as it heals and to not rush things and to not get grumpy with your daughter or he might have the other side broken also LOL

We all need to be extra careful and cautious. Especially us more "mature" ones that don't heal near as fast as we did at one time.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

Saw my SIL today . He seems and looks ok . Does have a brace on his thumb . Daughter said most of the bruising is inside his mouth . Found out he'd already done the rear tractor tire . He picked up the front with one of those high lift farm jacks . Went to lower it because it wasn't balanced and the handle got him . Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers

I have a love/hate relationship with those jacks. The handle from one of them tried to do me in years ago. Grazed the right side of my head.

Sorry to hear about your son in law. Sounds like he will live to tell the story in the weeks to come.
