It might of been mentioned here before.Who likes the throttle on the 170? I hate the way both of mine work, can't move them a little to vary RPM's.I like the ones on the D Series much better. Has anyone ever figured out how to make them less responsive to movement? I would like to know to. Thanks Tracy

On my 175, I rarely grab the throttle lever in my hand to move it. Most of the time I just bump it up with the palm of my hand. Much better control.
If the lever moves easily, the friction discs might need tightening up. |

There is not much fine adjustment there on mine. Might as well be a three position throttle. Low-medium-high.

You can't stiff arm it and lift from idle position. Bump it up with palm of your hand.

Don't care what they say,the console throttle on my 220 is much handier than that little stub by my hip on my 8070.

drill the handle and put on an extension made from a 3/4 or larger key stock bolted to the handle. Bend it like a 185 only about 4 " longer. put a bolt on the end or other way to hold knob on.Problem solved.

I agree that the 170 throttle is harder to set compared to my wd45. Mine seems to over rev unless under load but I use my palm to bump it and move it. The only time I grab the throttle is when I go to full throttle.

When I get the time, I am going to look into it deeper. I can't stand the rapid change in rpm's. There was no reason to make it so sensitive. It would be nice to be able to use any portion of the rpm's without spending too much time in getting it set. If need be I will make a change in the pivot and fulcrum points.
