I have a New NOS D-17 LH fender with original box. Box isn't the greatest. Would take $445.00 plus shipping.

The D17 ones are very rough looking/poorly cast.
Not sure about the WD ones. maybe it has changed since I last looked at them

I cant help you much on this issue. I was cheap and bought some old fenders and put a bunch of time into getting them back near the correct shape. The first pair I did came out OK. I am sure if I had to pay for my labor I would have as much as a aftermarket pair. We have a Allis show coming up this summer in the area, I will have to take a look at some of the tractors.

I kinda figured they would be made cheap but wanted some input on them. All my WDs have pretty straight fenders but my 17s would take a lot of work to make them perfect. I'll try to find a good used pair sometime down the road, right now I'm in no hurry, these are still working machines and even after getting redone in the future they will be put to use.

You can get a lot of money invested in the aftermarket fenders. First off, they don't fit well at all. Second, they really have to be tweaked, sanded, filled, to get a lot of the imperfections out, and if your paying a body man to do that, that's where the expense comes in not to mention the original purchase price of the fenders. My personal opinion is, if your not in a hurry, and can find a nice set of decent Western fenders to repair, you're probably much better off especially for a nice restoration Tractor. I'm at that point right now with the fenders for my WF. They're in pretty rough shape, had things welded to them, rot holes through em' etc. Might have em' sandblasted (hopefully they'll survive) or find a nicer pair to give to the body man. Decisions... decisions...

the pair I bought for the WD45 are stamped right but they are so thin I would not like to have a kid sit on them. would probably bend them in half. dad left the originals sit against the machine shed wall for 30+ years and they could not be saved.

The aftermarket fenders might not be nice as pretty like a set you have reworked to look like new car fenders but for a working tractor with a new coat of paint they will be fine and you will not have 10 or more hours in fixing old set and if you farm out the body work to a body shop most of them will charge $100. per hour to fix a set of old fenders so a man might have over $1,000 in reworking the older set. I'm not saying just buy new, I'm saying just look at the total cost before saying no to aftermarket fenders.
