I was at the Farm Progress show last week and Deere had their new big combine with a twelve row corn head there. Well aparently they looked at all the competing machines and were so embaressed they threw a big tarp over it so nobody could see it.
Seriously, what was the point of hauling this thing to the show and NOT uncovering it?

Hey, it IS more pleasing to the eyes the way it is, just black. Keep it covered. Just look at the boxey profile under that tarp, what a huge monstrosity. They should have used a silver tarp, silver like a GLEANER!!

That's their new combine field cover. It's like a car cover, only for combines. It's for Deere owners who wish to cover their machines at night when they're away from home base and can't park in the shed.

My guess was it's the new Magneto cover, they still haven't stolen a way to keep it dry?!?!

Its another one of John Deeres BS marketing schemes to whip up the hype to the Deere guys, they have pulled this so many times everything being top secret I cant believe anyone falls for it anymore. If I had to guess it has new decals, a leather seat option thats heated and cooled, a bigger grain tank, and engine to make it a Class 10 -or 11 combine but in reality its the same guts of the current machine tweaked and hyped to sell more.

If there is anything new on that combine, they copied it, or bought it, from someone else.

I'm not trying to make anyone mad and I know I started this thread. I agree this is hype on Deeres part and I think it's stupid. But the rest of your statement is the "Super" series of Gleaners to a T. At least Deere will change the way the dang things look ocassionally. Same old machine, AGCO used the "Super" improvements as an excuse to make the White, I mean A series machines 100% Massey now. Going to be interesting to see how many Gleaners get sold at Massey Dealers. Then there are the Challenger dealerships that sell Claus combines... AGCO what a company.

It is kinda funny how Deere came out with a "new" combine 1 year after Gleaner came out with the Super 7 series...

The show on RFD pretty much stated the Gleaner was abandoning the axial flows to Massey and only doing the Super 6/7 series. Might be a Super 8 in the works but nothing planned for above that due to the limited number of sales for the super large combines.

You wont make me mad, I said the same thing about the super series, more hype and marketing than substance. I doubt if Deere is overly worried about the super series of combines, my guess now that the CaseIH models have all been updated to the "new"look, and Class America is stepping up its class 10-11 machine Deere wont want to conceed market so it will rehype and the Deere guys will crash there pick ups as they race to the dealer for some $100,000 Decal change. It always amazed me how an industry that isnt known for big profits ,ie farming, can get so many suckers to fall for a pig in a new dress over and over and over again. The first New Holland combine I bought in 1995 we ran to 11,000 hrs than sold and replaced it, never gave us a lick of problems performed its job flawlessly and when I delivered the grain never once was I asked by the elevator if it came from a New Combine so they could pay me more money for it!!!

I cant tell you how stessful I am getting out of the cab at night riding in an AC and heated cab, am fm cd stereo ,air ride seat, and having to actually steer the machine, and the cart operator who can instictively see in the cart from years of doing it will be happy to know that now Deere can do it better.....OH JOY

looked it over today, bigger cab , different lighting, few cosmetic changes , but basicaly same model as before with some improvements here and there. Dont know why everyone piss and moans about Deere, I looked at new Gleaners, basically same machine with improvements. JUST like everyother company bringing out a new model. GROW UP, would be pretty boring world if everyone liked the same things.

With the new Deere entry, MF will absolutely get no traction with their new "joke". Likely wouldn't anyway due to poor sample, loss and being an overweight top-heavy (to the point of dangerous) pig.

I received the latest Farm Journal mag today, has a several page ad for JD with pics of the new combines. Further in the mag is an article about new AGCO products, er I mean MF and other companies owned by the Allis Gleaner company. Talk about the new MF combine, etc.

I doubt John Deere is worried about Gleaner or Agco.

I know a John Deere Dealer from northeast Iowa, a couple of years ago he had told me that it wasn't the "red" tractors that were costing him sales, but the agco's. Talked to him this past weekend, and when I asked him if agco was still costing him sales, he said "agco dropping the orange paint was the biggest favor they could have done for him, as mf is a non issue".

What happened was they were in a hurry to get the combine completed for the show. It was loaded on the truck before the paint was all the way dry. To keep the bugs off of it, a tarp was placed over it. Traveling down the road in the hot sun, the paint dried and stuck the tarp to the green paint forever.
