 Topic: 2 bottom snap coupler plow

I was trying to use my 2 bottom plow in some wheat ground, it isn’t too dry to be plowing where I’m at, but the plow dosent seem to want to go down into the ground I’m pulling it with my d17 series 4 the points are curved on the plow not sure if it’s the points or something else it went about 3-4 inches deep and wouldn’t go any further seemed like it wanted some weight added to it.

When i was young maybe 12 or13 breaking land i ran into that. Plow wouldnt go inti the ground. If course i didnt know what to do. It was a D10 with 3 piont hitch. My Dad came and shortened the center link just a little bit. Not enough to really affect the for aft levelness of the plow. He called it putting the plow on the point. It was land we had sowed rye on to graze over winter. Packed hard. He didnt have a lot if money so i doubt our shares were much better than yours. What it effectively did was to make that front share hit the ground first by itself so the weight of the plow helped it pull in the ground. Your mileage may vary but i hope that helps

i would start by pulling the left front and rear tire up on a wood block on hard leval ground and set the plow down and see how it sits on the gound and start levaling the plow that way

I was not just tried getting it to work today, was hoping to plow the garden with it, are those points supposed to be curved like they are or is that wear? If so does anyone sell those anymore?

Turn that hand crank CLOCKWISE as far as it will go. Adjust your lifting links so the plow frame is level side to side when standing behind it and the tractor tires in the furrow. Plow points don't look good but do these other things FIRST.

50 series plow hooked to a D17 is the crux of your problem. A D17 has taller tires than the WD/WD45 or CA that the 50 series was designed for, which has the snap coupler bell higher than it would be on the WD/WD45 & CA tractors. You will really need to crank the beaming screw shorter, if it will even go far enough. I've seen some make a plate to raise the eye above the pull bar for D17 tractors. Find a 70/80 series plow.
